Today was the second day on ice. We had strong gusty winds around 30 knots. Again sailed on Nannewiid.
After beiing overpowered yesterday with less strong winds then today I knew I had to prepare my old Gun sail 4.2 again. But with no mast for the sail I needed to try it on my rdm Loftsails mast.
Also the boom had te be used in its shorter then shortest lenght to have some decent rig to sail with. And then the wind, making it really chill. After some hesitation, I decided to rig anyway and give it a go. Nobody sailed bigger then 4.7 so my 4.2 would be great. After rigging the sail I went for it. My triangle iceboard was great again. With really sharp blades I had decent grip to get all the power from the sail to the board. Speeds where again incredable, going max out at the downwinders I for sure exceed the 75 km/h, need to get my GPS working againto know.
Normally I am not that interested about speeds cause whensailing with others I can find out if im fast or not, but on the ice it is a different game, im really curious to know how fast I really go.
Hope to sail again next weekend. The snow that is expected needs to be blown of the ice so the ice keeps on as good as it is now. Next week more (I hope).
